Alcohol Awareness Brochure

The idea behind this brochure came from a very personal place. I want to spread awareness to the negative effects of alcohol to people who know someone or themselves are suffering from alcoholism by using verifiable facts from a variety of reliable sources such as the National Survey of Drug Use and Health, and using bright yet comprehensible infographics to capture the attention of the target demographic, which are teens and young adults.

Campaign Logo

StrawBuried is an environmental company whose goal is to discuss a problem that has been damaging the Earth for decades, plastic waste, more specifically plastic straws and how it is effecting our oceans. My idea for this logo below is to use broken up plastic straws and bottles coating in the ocean to represent how it harshly effecting marine life, especially turtles.

The slogan “Put Plastic Straws To Rest” means to end the use of plastic all together. The audience cares about saving the sea turtles as well as other marine life. The logo help raise awareness on how harmful pollution is to the environment by donating to the company, finding ways to remove plastic from the ocean, spreading the word through social media, etc.

Bookcover

This is one of my favorite projects I ever worked on. I was assigned to create a book cover based on a movie that has never been adapted into a book or based on a book so I chose one of my favorite musicals of all time, Grease. In my opinion, I feel that this assignment gave me much more creative freedom than other projects throughout the school year due to it focusing heavily on illustration and visuals than typography.

Editorial Portrait

My favorite lesson in photography is being taught the art of editorial portrait. Both photos gives off dramatic, serious tones but in different styles. I wanted to give both a kind of cinematic look to capture the energy it brings to the audience. For example, I use blue and red gels over the lighting on the second photograph and tell the model to lift down her shades while looking up as if she is thinking about something.

Sticker Design

I was surprised to discover that Hot Topic, the counterculture retail chain, never had a mascot. So I was inspired to create one for the company. This unnamed troublemaker is targeted towards teens and young adults due to his cute yet devious design, which suits the style of the company perfectly. My idea is to create merchandise of the little guy to sell to young people, such as stickers for example.

Magazine Cover

Creating this magazine cover was one of my favorite assignments I was ever given. Due to my love for the vintage style, I wanted to give my mockup of the Cosmopolitan magazine a more retro feel by giving it a 1970s theme. I had fun researching vintage magazines to use as reference and inspiration for this project. I created the layout in November, thus giving me an idea of dedicating a couple pages to quick, easy to make, Thanksgiving recipes to prepare for your family. This fits well with Cosmopolitan since recipes and helpful kitchen tips are commonly found in their magazines which their primary target audience are women.
